Diamond Dog Food & Bakery recognises the important properties of this simple seed & now incorporate it into all their specially prepared dinners, biscuits & bakery treats.

Chia seeds were initially added to the signature range of dinners which were already packed with nutritional value from the combination of excellent quality lamb, beef or chemical free chicken with liver, rolled oats and fresh garden vegetables.

Then, came the discovery of chia flour which has all the same properties as the seeds. This is now being used in all of the Diamond Dog baked goods such as Boutique biscuits, doggy muffins & even in the Doggy Birthday Cakes.

The main reasons for using chia can be simply explained:

  • Chia has the highest plant ratio of Omega-3 : Omega-6 which supply essential fatty acids to our dogs – higher than shark cartilage or green lipped muscles.
  • Chia is a valued source of complete protein, up to 23% of the seed profile – essential for tissue & muscle building functions as well as regulating carbohydrates sugar conversion – perfect for diabetic dogs.
  • Chia is rich in calcium which all our dogs need & as we know they are lactose intolerant so milk is out of the question as well as the fact that chia has 5 times the amount of calcium as milk!
  • Omega-3's in chia help repair damaged tissue, restoring flexibility in the cell membranes which is vital for a healthy flow of blood though veins & arteries resulting in a healthier heart & leading to a longer life span.

All the properties of chia that are good for humans also have an extremely positive effect on our dogs.

As an added benefit chia has no discernable odour and almost no taste so it could be simply added to the Diamond Dog Dinners without altering the carefully balanced flavours that our dogs have come to love.
